About Wedding Hires

Wedding Hires is both owned and managed by Giles and Dave who set up the business in 2016.  It was an amalgamation of two business’, one that provided wedding venues and the other that dressed wedding venues.

The company South West Letter Lights was originally established in 2014 by award-winning wedding creatives Richard and Alan Godefroy, these letter lights are one of the most popular wedding enhancements to date. It was then bought by Giles Boardman in 2016 and has been run and grown for 4 years now.

Really Good Marquees was set up by Dave in 2009 and has been successfully run and grown since then by Dave and Rupert.  When Rupert moved on in 2019, Giles then took over and we started the process of amalgamating the two companies into one much larger wedding supply company – Wedding Hires.

 

Giles and Vicky as the current owners are passionate about Letter Lights and it has been a natural progression for them as Giles has 20 years experience in the lighting industry.  But they are both passionate about the wedding industry and have enjoyed seeing the business grow over the years into a successful letter lights hire company.

Our aim as a small family run company is to expand South West Letter Lights into a wedding supply company with a wider product range while never impacting on the quality of our service.

 

 

With a workshop based in Plymouth, Devon every letter light is created with care by KM Contracts in Plympton, Devon.  They  are experienced carpenters and we make the best quality letters on the market.  South West Letter Lights now has over 60 letter combinations available for hire!

Giles Boardman

Giles Boardman

Giles is the owner and manager of South West Letter Lights. His aim on taking over the company was to expand the company and product range.
Generally, Giles will be your point of contact for logistics in terms of delivery times and details.

Vicky Boardman

Vicky Boardman

Vicky will normally be your point of contact for quotes and booking enquiries for South West Letter Lights. Please bear with us though, Vicky is always busy juggling family and work life.

Michael Francis

Michael Francis

Mike the original Master Carpenter and Joiner of our Letter Lights. He ensured that each light was been given total care and attention to ensure the highest possible quality.

Richard Godefroy

Richard Godefroy

Richard was the initial brainwave behind South West Letter Lights. He developed the idea to work alongside his existing award wining business ‘The Swing Kings’. Richard continues to provide wedding entertainment and we can vouch for him personally as he sung at our own wedding. Richard only parted company with South West Letter Lights as his own company was all consuming.

KM Contracts are our carpenters and have been helping us build our latest generation of letter lights for 2 years now.

We use the finest quality materials and paint we can source so our letter lights are as robust and problem free as is possible. We‘ve developed a unique ’wine proof’ system to ensure our clients can get on with having fun rather than worrying about spillages.
